Good Morning Sisters!
What a BEAUTIFUL night we had! HIS peace flooded the room and the cares we brought with us were left at His feet. (even Bella was basking in His rest last night...fell asleep on my computer asleep while I taught :-). The Lord gave us fresh new insights into His heart for us and what our priorities should be. The Lord doesn’t want us running ourselves ragged, thinking that the only way to succeed in life is to work harder and put in more hours. He has a higher way for us and has paid the price for us to walk in it. Before we began our study we celebrated our sweet sister Denise’s birthday. Rita brought a gorgeous loaf of delicious bread with all kinds of yummy toppings to complement. We had a feast! So much love and laughter! It was sugar to our souls. For those of you who could not be with us we covered you with much love, grace and prayer.
We then prayed and had devotions. This week’s devotion was entitled “Your Only Battle” which I will send out through the website. There is only ONE thing that Jesus tells us that we should fight for. He says there is only ONE thing that we should fear. The only battle we are supposed to fight is the battle to remain in REST. The rest principle applies to the building of ANYTHING...whether it’s a business, a church, a career or a family, the power to succeed is in the REST. In His rest is where you find the strength to do it. There is a powerful truth that can be learned through the life of David. David was a man after God’s own heart but God did not choose him to build His temple because David was a man of war. Instead he wanted a man of rest to build His house. He wanted someone whose life was marked by quietness and peace. So he chose David’s son, Solomon, whose name in Hebrew (Shelomoh) means “peace.”
God has called you to be a person of rest. God doesn’t want you wasting your time wringing your hands being worried. He wants you to stop being anxious and stressed out about family, troubled about your job, or stressing over the tasks that you have ahead of you. Stay in His rest and win the battle over sleepless nights. The Bible tells us that He gives His beloved sleep. And not only does He give you restful sleep, but He also gives to you what you need while you are sleeping.
God gave wisdom to Solomon as he slept. Do you need God’s wisdom for a decision you’re trying to make? Listen to a message on grace right before you go to bed. Fill your mind with the good things of God. You will sleep peacefully. You can rest because the Lord is building the house and guarding the city. He is building your business, your ministry, your career, your family and your health. Your cells repair themselves at night when you rest. God works when you rest.
Think about it. If the Lord isn’t building it, then you are laboring in vain anyway. If you build it then YOU have to maintain and sustain it. If HE builds it then it is on His shoulders. The pressure is off of you. Make a decision today to remain at rest and not to lose one precious moment of sleep worrying about your life. God is the one building your house and guarding your family. Being a person of rest means holding with a loose hand instead of choking the Lord’s supply by holding on with your own strength. The world’s way is to hold on tightly to your money, your position, your title or whatever advantage you have. But when you know that EVERY good thing in your life comes not from man but from God (James 1:17), you don’t have to be worried about losing out. Let go and have a good opinion of God. Trust that He is the God who goes before you and is your rear guard. If something you have been hoping for doesn’t work out...a job, relationship, or a financial opportunity...then believe that the Lord is opening up a better door. What the world sees as a setback God uses as a setup for something greater!
No one was more active and got more accomplished in a day than Jesus. Yet no one was more at rest and filled with peace than Him. How did he get so much done and stay so peaceful? Because he rested in His Father. Throughout the gospels we see how often He withdrew from the crowds to pray and to spend time with His Father. He would go up to the mountains and spend a whole night in prayer. The next time you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed stop what you’re doing and spend time with Jesus. He is the ONLY ONE who can fill your cup. HE IS YOUR REST. Cast ALL of your cares on Him for He cares for you (1 Pet. 5-6). Put all of your troubles in His hands. His hands are bigger. The more you rest in Him the more He works. Aren’t you tired of being in the rat race of life? Struggling and striving for the “good life”? Work hard, yes, but inwardly don’t be a “woman of war.” Jesus wore a crown of thorns on His head to take away all of your cares and worries.
When you rest your work will take on a higher quality. Your mind will be sharper and more clear. Today, my beloved sister, you can rest. You don’t have to earn healing, or blessings, or rest...you only have to RECEIVE them. Matthew 11:28 in the original Greek says “I will rest you.” When you come to Jesus, He Himself will rest you. The Lord delights in blessing you. He delights in raining down His grace upon you. Why? Because HE LOVES YOU! After our study we held hands and prayed. We then took communion. I want to strongly encourage each of you to take COMMUNION each and everyday. It is the meal that provides REST. When we take communion we are bringing to remembrance all that Christ has finished for us at the cross. It reminds us that He took our infirmities and carried our pain. It reminds us that our healing is a finished work. It is the meal that heals.
Next week we will not have Bible Study. The following Wednesday we will dive into Chapter 15 entitled “Hear your Way to Victory”.
This Friday is our “A Night of Celebration” event! We launch our website and celebrate ALL that God is doing through our ministry! THANK YOU to everyone who has helped make this night possible! It is an answer to prayer!
I love each of you dearly and look forward to seeing you on Friday!
Love,
Sherry :-)
