Good Morning Sisters!
WOW!!! After last night’s powerful teaching by Bill Alsop we are indeed LOCKED and LOADED! Our position secure in Christ knowing that no one can snatch us out of our Father’s hand. When Bill first arrived last night he said to me…”you know Sherry the Holy Spirit told me to come here tonight. I get invited to speak at many places but I only go to where the Holy Spirit directs me. If I don’t listen to Him there is no anointing. There is a reason He is here tonight.” And boy was He right!!! The Holy Spirit moved mightily through people’s hearts and souls! I cannot capture in words what we experienced as it was supernatural. He taught on grace-grace and His words brought such great freedom, joy and peace. You could literally see the stress and worry melt of people’s faces. At the end of the night as we were holding hands and praying the Holy Spirit led Bill to speak words of knowledge over several of the women. So incredibly POWERFUL!!!
It was so wonderful having Cara with us last night. Cara is the wife of Pastor Steven, (Bill’s friend) the man who God used to bless us with a new car. For those of you who could not be with us we missed you and covered you with an abundance of love and prayer.
My notes:
Christianity is a spiritual dimension. It is the kingdom of God...not a kingdom that we can see with our natural eyes.
Do you recognize yourself as a spiritual being more than a human being? How do you see yourself?
We’ve all been born of the spirit. When you accept Jesus you are a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation is come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The real you is not flesh and blood. You are made in the image of your Father and He is a spirit. You are a spirit. You’re already in eternity.
As a believer you’re already seated with Christ. You’re already there in God’s eyes. The real you is eternal. You are indestructible. You cannot be killed or destroyed. You cannot die. You will lose your body but your spirit lives on. Paul said…”To be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord.”
We have the Kingdom of God living in us through the person of The Holy Spirit. We’re not used to doing spiritual things. Praying in the Spirit (praying in tongues) was the first gift given to the Church at Pentecost and is one of the two most powerful gifts we have (the other being communion). Praying in tongues is a spiritual action...you don’t have to know what you’re saying. You are communicating directly to the throne room of God. 1 Corinthians 14:2 tells us that your spirit man and God are communicating. It’s a mystery.
We have paid no attention to the Holy Spirit...treat Him like an eccentric uncle. We’re afraid of him because no one is communicating to you why He is living within you. The Holy Spirit is part of the trinity and the trinity is one. He is living in you and connects you to the three of them. He has all the attributes and character He wants to manifest through you. If you need wisdom which is a spiritual gift the Holy Spirit can release it to you. He carries the nature of God...the fruit of the spirit you see in Galatians 9. He takes His nature and conforms you into the image of the Son.
His main attribute is to conform you into the image of Christ so you can talk and act like Him. When we look like Jesus we fulfill the mission of the church. He changes you. His job is to conform you to the image of the Son. We don’t have the power to change ourselves.
The Church is anemic in its understanding of The Holy Spirit. We’ve picked and chosen things we want from and because of this we can’t look like Jesus.
Jesus had 5 functions He worked through (5 fold ministry):
Prophet
Apostle
Teacher
Evangelist
Pastoral (Shepherd heart)
When all of these are working in the church it will look like Jesus. The Holy Spirit want us to operate in ALL of these. He wants us to think like He thinks.
When you have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you, you have one-third of the Creator living in you. The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in YOU!
We’re just coming into the age of grace-grace. Things are being revealed to the church today they have never understood.
Did you know that the Ten Commandments were never given to you? They were given to the Jews.
The law was given to bring the Jews to the end of themselves. To arouse sin. To show them that they needed a Savior. There are actually 613 commandments and the Jews had to keep ALL of them. If they missed one they missed all. That’s why once a year they had to go to the temple and offer a sacrifice for sins. If the law had taken care of sin there would have been no reason to offer sacrifices.
You can’t have a revelation of grace when you’re still obeying the law.
Paul said…”I wouldn’t have known sin unless the law was created to stir up sin in me.” The Old Covenant was given to point us to CHRIST.
God made ONE sacrifice once and for all. God looks at you and doesn’t see sin but sees Christ in you. He looks at you exactly like He is looking at Jesus. God is not looking at your behavior...He looks at your POSITION.
You are a NEW CREATION. Is that how you see yourself? Or are you focused on your behavior?
God looks at you and says “righteous” meaning you have right standing with Him, not because of anything you have done but because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Once you accept Him as your Savior your identity is no longer in yourself but in Him. HE is your identity. Your mind now has to programmed with the truth of WHO YOU ARE.
Adam could not become righteous because he was a fallen being.
God made you righteous by the blood of His Son. He put you back into the garden before the Fall.
1 John 3:7 tells us that we must PRACTICE OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
We must declare out of our mouths “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” This does not mean your behavior will be perfect. Your old nature was in cahoots with the devil and it takes time to reprogram all of that stinkin’ thinkin’. As you start speaking your righteousness you will start identifying yourself the way God does and start walking in your righteousness.
It comes down to knowing your POSITION. Are you in Adam or Christ?
Do you know your position in Christ? The devil knows your patterns and will try to get you back into law. He has NO power over the new man. He can’t touch that so he tries to get into your head and get you to think like Adam.
If you think like Adam he can get you to act like Adam.
When you fall short don’t feel guilty. Say to yourself…”Hey sister, get your act together. Remember who you are. You are the righteousness of God in Christ...you don’t have to act that way.”
Hebrews 8:13 tells us that we are not under a new covenant. This new covenant makes the old one obsolete. If you are feeling guilty over anything you’re not operating in the New Covenant. You can’t do anything wrong in God’s eyes as He sees you washed in the blood of Jesus. The reason you feel guilty is that you think you’ve behaved badly...you’ve sinned and your conscience is condemning you. Plus, Satan jumps on the bandwagon and starts reinforcing that condemnation.
Love grows through declaration. God spoke the world into existence. The Holy Spirit was there to activate what God said. This is why declaration is so important. Satan has the ability to put a thought into your head and you think it’s your thought. Then you start to feel guilty for thinking it. Take authority over the thought and cast it out. Start declaring how God sees you and you will change what you see. God exists outside of time and eternity and sees us a finished work. God wants to get the law out of us as it keeps us from receiving His love and grace.
Grace is 3 things:
Undeserved
Unmerited
Under the control of the Holy Spirit.
The job of the church belongs to the Holy Spirit.
Jesus never did anything unless he was commanded to be the Father.
Who is directing your life? You or the Holy Spirit?
Scripture says you are perfect. Remember the real you is not your flesh. The real you is your Spirit man and it is impossible for him to sin. But your old man can still act up. Romans 6 says that grace makes you sinless. Grace is designed by God to make you not sin. The law was designed to make you sin. Why did God design it this way? We don’t know. His ways are higher than ours. Could it be that we wouldn’t understand the beauty of grace unless we had been under the bondage of law? You can’t understand the blessing of abundance unless you’ve experienced poverty. You can’t appreciate good health unless you’ve been sick.
When you are under grace you can’t hold other people’s behavior against them. “Because of what Jesus did for me I can’t stay mad at my husband.” You don’t try and win arguments when you’re under grace. You treat each other the way God treats you. You forgive others as Jesus forgave you.
Once you get to Heaven you have no old man. We get so caught up in time. God has always been and exists outside of time.
The Holy Spirit is trying to morph you into Jesus so you can talk and act like Him. Don’t get caught up in the world. The world is under the control of Satan. You don’t belong to the world. You are an alien...you belong to a different kingdom.
Concentrate on the kingdom and you’ll have kingdom thought. Concentrate on the world and you’ll get in fear. When your world is tranquil while the rest of the world is falling apart you know you are living in the Kingdom.
When people say “grace is just a license to sin” you know that they under law. To ask that question means they don’t know their position.
When you’re like Jesus it is His love that is motivating you, not evil.
From the moment we’re born we’re told that if our behavior is good we get a reward. Everything we get is based on our behavior. And the world is based a meritocracy. You do good you get good. You do bad you get bad. This is why we must reprogram our thinking. You are reversing a lifelong pattern of wrong thinking. We have to take our thought patterns and reverse them.
Why should you never compare yourself to other people?
You don’t compare yourself to another person because you are a PERFECT BEING. You can’t improve on what is perfect. God loves you exactly the way you are. Once you know that you start seeing yourself the way God sees you.
Grace is Christianity without works. If YOU are the one doing it then it’s not grace.
How very blessed we were last night. My cup is overflowing this morning. My heart so full. Bill Alsop is a special man and we ask that God continue to bless Him, his family and his amazing ministry. At the end of the night he commented on what a special group of women we were. He said I see such spiritual maturity here that I don’t often see. I know that God used this man to give us a big wink and hug letting us know how very pleased He is with us. Each Wednesday the revelation of His love for us grows stronger. Indeed, we are LOCKED and LOADED my beloved sisters in Christ. Our position is secure in Christ. He is preparing us for GREAT THINGS!
Next week we will plunge into Chapter 13 entitled “Stand Still.” Please complete the questions in the study guide and meditate on the scriptures in this chapter.
Also, please remember to RSVP to our “A Night of Celebration” coming up on Friday, October 26th. I would like to thank Wendy Schenck and Jen Ward who are our event coordinators and have done a beautiful job planning a wonderful night of celebration. And thank you to our intercessory team who have covering this event with lots of grace and prayer. We will be launching our website!!! You will get to hear testimonies from teens and women whose lives have lives have been dramatically transformed through our ministry.
