Speak Right

What are you speaking? Are you speaking what you see or what you want to see? Are you speaking words of faith or are you speaking words of fear?

SPEAK what you believe, not what you see. Speak what you want to see, not what you see. Everything begins with belief. Hebrews 11:1 says “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen." What you believe you will have. When things go wrong don’t ask “what did I do wrong”? It’s not what you “do” wrong... it’s what you “believe” wrong. Jesus warns us that the very first thing the devil comes to steal is the Word of God. The WORD is our truth... the truth we are to BELIEVE. Once he steals the Word he is able to steal all the rest... your health, your finances and your relationships. The Bible says faith comes by “hearing”. If you don’t keep hearing the Word “continually” you will be surprised that what you believed five years ago you don’t believe today. And like Samson you don’t even know it. The Bible says he realized not that the spirit had departed from him. When we stop hearing it opens the door for doubt and unbelief to creep in.

How does Faith work? By SPEAKING what you believe. 2 Corinthians 4:13 says “It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken. Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak.” Believe it and speak it! That’s ALL it takes. Some people teach that faith is not enough and that you must have “corresponding action.” They have missed the point James was trying to make. Actions cannot be combined with faith. Faith is Faith. Whatever action comes out of that you’re almost unconscious of. Action comes out of what you believe. The Bible says believe alone. How did God made everything? God spoke and then believed. In Genesis 1:2 God didn’t look and say “man it’s dark out there.” God never spoke what He saw, He spoke what He believed and then He saw what He believed. Speak what you believe and what you believe comes from your contract with God, the Word of the living God. God Promised to supply all of your needs according to His riches and glory. He never said when things are well He will supply your needs. Do you think economic down turns take God by surprise? Nothing takes God by surprise. As a matter of fact, in the Bible God supplies His greatest glory during times of famine for HIS people. The world is a stage to demonstrate the glory of our God’s grace. The whole stage is set and you must shine in it. It’s your grandest opportunity to show God is God. Think about it. God feeds the birds of the air and clothes them. They don’t sow or reap. They don’t have the sense to worry. They don’t even know there’s an economic downturn. While you are worrying about your 401K and how to pay your bills they are perched on a tree limb singing, not a care in the world. They never stop eating and singing. They are so happy and carefree. God says if I takes care of the birds how much more will I take care of you? Oh you of little faith.

What holds faith back? Don’t forget who you are. You are a redeemed daughter of the King. Let the redeemed of the Lord SAY what God says. What holds back faith many times is that in our hearts we feel that believing only is not enough. God said “light be” and there was light. His corresponding action was speaking. In the book of Exodus God commands Moses to speak to a rock promising to make water flow in the desert again. Moses strikes the rock instead of speaking to it.  Because of this Moses wasn’t permitted to bring the people into the Promised land. God tells him Numbers 20:12 “because you did not believe in me, you shall not bring this assembly I have given them.” Moses didn’t trust God. He thought speaking alone was not enough. He tried to take matters into his own hands by striking the rock. He tried to usurp God’s place.  

Righteousness is a gift you receive by faith. It is not practical righteousness. 1 John 3:10-12 says “In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.” What is practicing righteousness? We must go back to the book of Genesis to understand. We see that “works” was all about what they offered to God. Able offered the lamb, a picture of God’s Son Jesus Christ. He offered the fat which implies the richness of Jesus. The blood of the animal represents the blood that Jesus would shed. Only the blood of an innocent dying for the guilty can wash away sins. Cain on the other hand brought the produce (fruits and vegetables) of the ground that God has cursed. He brought a bloodless offering. His righteousness was in himself saying “God I am not a sinner. I do not need blood. Let me offer you the works of my hands.” God rejected Cain. Why? God didn’t accept Able because of Able. God accepted Able because of the lamb. If Cain had brought him a lamb He would have accepted it. They both approached God but it was the WAY they approached God. Able came with right believing. His works were righteous. He brought the blood. God called Cain’s offering evil works as it represented his own righteousness, his own striving and self effort. Cain had wrong believing. Able was accepted by God as he brought blood. Cain was rejected by God as he brought the produce of His hand. The result was hatred and murder in Cain’s heart. Those who believe that they are righteous by their performance have a lot of bitterness, resentment and hate in their heart. Unless you practice righteousness, offer Jesus’ blood, and Jesus is the basis for your trust you will not love right. Unless you believe right you will never love right. Loving your brothers and sisters is a fruit of believing. This is a powerful revelation. Unless you know how much you’re loved you cannot love right. You cannot live right. This is what the gospel of grace is all about... how loved you are by Jesus Christ!

Are you believing? Faith works by SPEAKING. Speak what you want to see! Speak what you believe and what you believe comes from your living contract with God. God never saw good until He spoke. Jesus saw a man with a withered hand. What did Jesus say? He said “stretch forth your hand” and then the man’s hand was made well. He spoke what he wanted to see happen. He never spoke what He saw. We must use our mouth to practice the end result. There is power in your words. As children we are taught “sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me.” This is not Biblical. It is a LIE! The world does not realize the power of their words because they do not acknowledge God. Out of the twelve spies that were sent into The Promised Land only two spoke “God has given us the land.” Only the two that spoke this entered the land, prospered in the land and lived forever young in the land. The others spoke what they saw, not what God had promised them. The ten looked at the giants and said “we cannot take the land” God told Moses “as they have SPOKEN.” You don’t believe you won’t receive. You believe you receive. When people received healing Jesus would ask them “so you believe that I’m able do this”? He never asked the person about His behavior. He never asked the person about his obedience, he never asked the person about his lifestyle. He asked him about BELIEF. God can’t work beyond your belief. God works through belief because He is a believer. He is a faith God. Faith is His currency. Sometimes he does it after he heals. The woman with the issue of blood He said “your faith made you well.” He didn’t say your kind heart made you well or your good reputation made you well. So we see a lot of people who got healed in the Bible that did not have their act together, but their belief was all together. Believe right and you will live right. The problem is that for many years the church has been preaching obedience, obedience, obedience, behave, behave, behave, live right live right, live right. We’ve actually been teaching the philosophy and life principle of the Old Testament which has been annulled.

Every morning when you wake up you should say say “I believe I am righteous in God’s eyes. I believe I am entitled to every blessing in Heaven because of the gift of righteousness. It has nothing to do with what I have accomplished less I should boast. It has nothing to do with my performance. It is a gift and I believe I am righteous because I receive the gift.” Jesus gave us the gift of righteousness apart from the law. Romans 3:21-22 says “But now the righteousness of God, apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets.” The law said you had to obey the Ten Commandments, that you had to live perfectly before you could be righteous and NOBODY could. Therefore God sent His Son die for all of our sins, to take our place on the cross so He could GIVE us HIS righteousness apart from the law. He doesn’t wait until you have your act together and perform perfectly. He gives it as a gift. It’s a gift that you receive... a gift that when you believe and receive will transform you.

Flesh is self effort. When the Israelites said “whatever God commands we can do” that was pride and arrogance. They were so spiritually bankrupt they didn’t know how bad of a sinner they were. The works of flesh is the golden calf.... adultery, fornication, anger, impatience, bad temper, etc. We’re trying to get all of these things out of people’s lives but these things are works of the flesh. If you want all of these things out of you you must go to the root which is self effort. Instead of believing only and resting in the gift of righteousness they are striving to become something they already are.

What are some areas you are struggling in? Perhaps you struggle with a bad temper. Somewhere you are believing wrong. There is an area of wrong believing in your mind that is causing you to lose your temper. Maybe you have the wrong belief of “when I get angry I am powerful”,  and because of this wrong belief anger is controlling your life. Everything begins with BELIEF. If you believe you speak. When someone says “these times are tough”  you say “I don’t believe that for me. I’m an heir God, I’m joint heir with Jesus,  I’m a new creation, Christ has ransomed me from the curse of the law, from the curse of poverty and lack. I am the seed of Abraham and the blessing of Abraham is all over me. I’m renewed in my youth and my strength.”  It’s nothing we boast in. It’s nothing to be proud of...it’s a GIFT. When you work you have something to be proud of. When you believe it’s a gift. So learn to SPEAK your faith. Mark 11:23 says “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they SAY will happen, it will be done for them.” Jesus says you will have what you SAY. The devil has programmed death into our human vocabulary. No one says “I’m living for that piece of cake.” Instead they say “I’m dying for that piece of cake.” Take the death words out of your language. We must learn to SPEAK LIFE and believe.

Abraham is known as "the Father of Faith". Romans 4:3 says “Abraham BELIEVED God and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” He lies about his wife twice. When God told him to leave his father’s house He brought his nephew along when God told him not to. So we see that Abraham wasn’t perfect in his obedience but he was a man of faith. Romans 4:4 says “Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.” If you work for it then it’s not grace. If you had to earn it then that would mean that God owes you. And no one can make God a debtor. Romans 4:5 says “But to Him who does not work but believed on Him who justifies the ungodly, His faith is accounted for righteousness.” What good news it is when God makes ungodly people (which is ALL of us) righteous! If God is holy and cannot overlook sin then HOW can He do this? How can He count the ungodly man righteous? It all has to do with the CROSS of Jesus Christ. It’s ALL about His finished work. Zero us and ALL HIM! Rest in this truth today my friend. Receive HIS free gift of righteousness by faith. You have a blood bought right to ALL of the blessings in Heaven!

When we believe right we live right. When we believe right we love right. The key to helping yourself is believing right... looking to Jesus. Jesus is God’s will in action. God created everything by the words He spoke. We are made in His image. You and I create our world by the words we speak. “Decree a thing and it shall be established into you.” (Job 22:28)
