Dreams & Visions

Did you know that our dreams are the easiest way we can hear from God?

God says in Numbers 12:6 "I will reveal myself to you in visions and I'll speak to you in dreams." God promises that He is going to show up and meet us in our dreams!  Dreams come from our heart. Thinking comes from our head. And when we go to sleep at night our heart stays awake and communicates to us without having to go through the bottleneck of our brain. Jesus lives in our heart. When you got saved you invited Jesus to live in your heart. So now we have heart to heart communication. Dreams are simple. They are easy. They bypass the mind. They give you direct revelation spirit to spirit, heart to heart.

Why are dreams so important? Because God says they are! Over and over again God says that He will speak to us through dreams and visions (Acts 2:17, Joel 2:28, Daniel 1:17, Numbers 12:6). He tells us that He will open our ears and seal our instruction, turn us from wrongdoing and keep us from pride. In the Song of Solomon 5:2 He tells us that dreams are God's contingency plan. "I slept but my heart was awake. Listen! My beloved is knocking."  When we're asleep our heart is awake to commune with our beloved. So when our mind shuts down at night, that thing that we have deified and put in place of God, we go to our hearts. And our hearts are where God lives. Ephesians 3:17 says "That God may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love..."  Since God lives IN our hearts we want to live OUT of our hearts. Through dreams we commune with our beloved and He speaks wonderful counsel and revelation to us every single night.

Do you have dreams and visions? You may not be able to recall your dreams but EVERYONE dreams. Science has proven through sleep laboratories that every single person dreams. In a sleep laboratory they can tell when you begin to dream. Your eyes begin to flicker back and forth (called R.E.M. sleep...rapid eye movement).  If they wake a person up when they see their eyes begin to flicker and don't let them dream after three days the person will enter into a nervous breakdown. This proves how important and central dreams are for our emotional well being. Should you try to interpret your dreams by going online or making sense of them through the dream signal dictionary? No! You'll feel more confused about the dream and conclude that dream interpretation is illogical and crazy. The dream signal dictionaries do not take into account your own personal experiences, your own unique perceptions and perspectives on things. Don't complicate it! Matthew 18:3 says "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven." Did you know that there is a wealth transfer in these last days that God wants to speak to you through dreams and visions? Proverbs 13:22 promises "But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous." Many famous things have been developed as a result of dreams and visions. You can get wisdom, solutions to family problems, business ideas, answers to health challenges, etc.

Who is the best person to interpret your dreams? YOU! You have the expert living on the inside of you and His name is the Holy Spirit. YOU are the most qualified to interpret your own dreams.  Only you know what the symbols mean to you. You also know the setting of your dreams better than anyone. Your setting is what is going on in your life when you had the dream. Setting is everything. You won't know anything about the dream until you know the setting. So for every dream you have you want go back to your waking life and ask yourself what happened that day and what were you thinking about. What were you thinking about as you got ready for bed and what were you praying for as you fell asleep. The interpretation has to resonate in the heart of the dreamer and then you know you have the right message. It just clicks!

There have been many famous inventions that have been developed as a result of dreams. Have you ever heard of a guy named Larry Page? He was a 22 year old guy attending Stanford University who had a dream one night. In this dream he sees himself downloading the entire internet onto his personal computer. He sees some algorithms that are connecting all these different articles (computer  code) and shows how he is able to access and pull these articles down. He wakes up in the middle of the night and spends two hours writing down what he can recall from that dream of these different rules. He then takes it to his professor and tells him he is going to create this in a couple of weeks and his professor laughs at him. It took him a year of working this dream out but a year later he had the GOOGLE SEARCH BAR which we now all use. It has become the foundation of Google Enterprises which has made it one of the biggest, richest companies in the world. It has made Larry Page, the founder of it, one of the richest men in the world today because he listened to the dream, honored the dream, got up and spent two hours writing about it, spent a year of working it out and now he has blessed the world with a gift that we all use every single day.

Almost every great inventor has taken naps every day. Another great example is the inventor of the sewing machine. He couldn't figure out how to thread the thread in the end of the needle. He goes to sleep with that question on his mind. He has a dream of an arrow being shot through a wigwam wall snaring a thread on the inside of the wall and pulling it back through to the ball. That's the way to hook the thread to the end of this needle. And he patented it and became very wealthy.

What if you don't remember your dreams? Just simply lay in bed and night and ASK the Holy Spirit to give you a dream. Say "I believe in dreams and that my heart wants to communicate revelation with me." Ask God to give you revelation in the area you are exploring. Put a pencil and paper next to your bed saying to your heart you will write down what you are given. Each week you'll wake up with wonderful things to write down. It's also important to believe what you're expecting (Matthew 7:7). He who comes to God must believe.

Children are very sensitive to the supernatural world and the spirit because of their brain wave state. Adults are in beta, a faster, analytical brain wave state. Alpha is a slower, more meditative, more prayerful brain wave state. When we dream we're in alpha. Just as we're falling asleep at night and waking upon the morning that is alpha, the veil between the physical and supernatural is very thin. The incredible thing that science has discovered about children is that they live continually, day and night in the alpha brain wave state until about the age of seven. They're not living logically or analytically out of their head but they're living out of their heart. They are living out 2 Corinthians 4:18. They are living to an unseen realm, they're living to an inner kingdom. We all want to live out of our hearts as this makes us very sensitive to the supernatural realm that infuses and permeates the natural realm. Children are very gifted in the prophetic and see into the spirit.

Simple keys to understanding dreams in adults and children.

There are three questions you want to ask of each dream:

1) What is the setting? What is going on in your waking life when you have the dream?

2) What is the main action of the dream? Are you running, hiding, falling?

3) How are you feeling? Are you excited, scared, disappointed, grateful... that is the key emotion. Take that key emotion & action from the dream and look at your waking life and match it up. Where in your waking life are you feeling that emotion? Overlay your waking life world setting on top of the dream and see where it matches up. You'll then know what the dream is speaking to.

Multiple dreams in a night often signify the same thing. They may seem unrelated but usually God is speaking to the same heart issue. God is often showing us differ perspectives to communicate His message to us. It's very important to write your dreams down. Write them down as soon as you wake, even if it's in the middle of the night.

Would you like for God to speak to you in your dreams? Do you have a challenge that you need His insight and wisdom on? Tonight before you go to sleep ask Him to reveal the answer to you in a dream. I once challenged the ladies in our weekly Bible Study to do this and received a text from one of them the very next morning. The Lord gave her a dream! I was not surprised. Our father is faithful to answer when we seek Him in faith. When we believe we are sure to receive!

Sweet dreams my friends. May God bless you with His favor, blessings, peace and joy!

In Christ,

Sherry :-)
