Armed & Dangerous

Are you facing a challenge in your life that you feel unprepared to handle? Are you battling a sickness? Are you depressed? Are you struggling with an addiction? Are you having financial issues?

1 Corinthians 15 tells that God has put ALL things under our feet.  Anything that is coming against you that is keeping you from living your God given destiny is your enemy.  If you’re going to live in victory you must see every obstacle, every temptation, every sickness and every addiction as UNDER YOUR FEET!  It’s just a matter of time until you walk it out.

However, if you see the temporal (what you can “see” with your natural eye) as too big you will feel weak, attract doubt, and stop God from working in your life. It’s just a matter of time until you get your breakthrough. Shake off the lies of Satan! Every opportunity is going to be filled with obstacles. Every obstacle that was meant to be a stumbling block is a stepping stone to take you higher. The obstacle will not defeat you. It will promote you!

The key here is to keep the right perspective. David, the King of Israel, is a great example of this.  In Psalm 59 we see that David looked DOWN in triumph at ALL of his enemies.  He started by defeating the giant Goliath. He didn’t focus on his small size, lack of fighting experience or his natural abilities. In other words, he wasn’t self focused. He was God focused! He looked DOWN at this giant! He spoke his victory before slaying his giant!  He kept Goliath “under his feet”.

The sickness in your body may look big but you must go by what you KNOW, not by what you see. The lack of money in your bank account is telling you that it is hopeless and you will never be free from debt. You must walk by faith, not by sight. If you can SEE it, it is temporal and subject to change. In the natural, our obstacles often look huge and insurmountable. Do you look UP and ask God for help? Absolutely! Do you look UP and praise God? Absolutely! But you must do one more very important thing. You must look DOWN to talk to your obstacles. You talk DOWN to depression. You talk DOWN to fear.  There is an ole saying that says if you want to speak to the devil write it on your shoe because he’s under your feet! Do you need reminded of that my friend? When you face an enemy that’s trying to keep your from your destiny…a sickness, an unfair situation…don’t stand eyeball to eyeball with it, on the same level! Look DOWN at it! You are more than a conqueror! The enemy has limited power and God has ALL of the power! The key is to start USING the power that God has given you! When you face obstacles alone, without God, you are going into battle unarmed and unprepared. Greater is He who lives in you than the trouble coming against you. Change your perspective. Get full of “can do” power by speaking God’s words of victory over your situation! Say out loud…"God has made my enemies my footstool. He has put them under my feet! I am a child of God and I live in health and abundance in every area of my life.”

Look down at the cancer, not up at it! The first place we lose the victory is in our own thinking. If you see the obstacle as too big it will keep you defeated! Goliath was much bigger, much stronger and much more experienced than David but the first thing David said to him was “I will defeat you and feed your head to the birds of the air.” David, by faith, looked down on Goliath as being under his feet. Look through your eyes of faith rather than through your natural eyes. You and God are a majority. Shake off the self pity and put on a new attitude. Get your fire and passion back! See your sickness as under your feet.  Say…”You will not defeat me! I am a victor! You are under my feet.”

Don’t let life and its negative circumstances overwhelm you. Worry and anxiety affect you mentally and physically. These negative emotions weaken your immune system, making it unable to protect you. This is why God tells you that “the joy of the Lord is your health and strength”. You’ve got to shake off the worry and disappointments of life. God has already equipped you for battle. You have the greatest force in the universe living on the inside of YOU. You tap into that power by SPEAKING your victory. SPEAK God’s promises of life, health and abundance into your life. Your immune system will get stronger and your body will be equipped to protect you.

I want to share a personal story with you. Many years ago I had a dream that I went to Heaven. It was indescribably beautiful! The colors were so intense and so rich, unlike anything we’ve ever seen here on earth. You could close your eyes and whatever you imagined with your mind you could physically manifest it. I looked at Jesus and said…”Wow, this is incredible. I only have to think it in order to have it.”  I will forever remember the words He spoke back to me... “Sherry, you always had that power. You just didn’t know how to use it.” I truly believe this is one of the truths that will be revealed to everyone in Heaven one day. But we shouldn’t have to wait. Jesus died so that you and I could overcome the problems of this world. He won the battle for us! Our job is believe He won. Our job is to stand on His promises. Our job is to REST and allow the power of God to flow in our lives. (Hebrews 4:1) YOU are armed and dangerous my friend. Satan is terrified that this truth will be revealed to YOU and you will USE IT. YOU are a child of the most high God. You must start SEEING yourself as armed and dangerous! Get up in the morning and POWER UP! Get your mind going in the right direction by speaking God’s promises over your life. Remind yourself that you are equipped and empowered for your day. Don’t let the negative nellies of the world steal your joy and peace. Know that you are forgiven and redeemed. Expect great things to happen today.

Do you have a challenge you’re dealing with now?  Remind yourself that it’s under your feet and God will make your enemies your footstool (Psalm 110). What is a footstool? A footstool indicates a position of REST. You have to be still and know it is God. When you are all stressed out and living upset and try to force things to happen God steps back and lets you do it on your own. It takes faith to say “God I know you’re working this all out for my good and you’re fighting my battles so I’m going to keep my joy and peace.” When you’re at rest God will make your enemies your footstool. This is what happened to Joseph. He was treated SO unfairly by his brothers. They threw him in a pit. They sold him into slavery. He was put in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Through it all Joseph stayed on the high road. He didn’t hold a grudge or try to seek revenge on those who had wronged him. He stayed in peace and God turned it all around. God can vindicate you better than you can!  He can take the people trying to hold you down and turn them into the ones who end up promoting you. Remember, you’re not working for that boss at the office that is not treating you fairly and giving you the credit you deserve. You are working for God!  Don’t get bitter and try to prove yourself to the world. God is a God of justice and he will NOT forget what you’re owed! He will do it His way and in His time. Stay in peace. God has got your back.  God will make your wrongs right and promote you in front of the people who tried to pull you down. He promises you that in Psalm 23…”God will prepare a table for you in the presence of your enemies”. Psalm 23 is a powerful prayer of provision. I would recommend memorizing it and meditating on it when you are faced with a need.

All of the things that come against you are distractions that Satan uses to lure you off course and waste your valuable time and energy. When you’re tempted to worry close your eyes and envision yourself leaning back in a big, plush recliner resting your feet on a nice comfy footstool. When you’re at rest you’re in a position of power. When you’re in worry you’re in a position of weakness. Think about it. When in a battle would you rather operate from a position of power or a position weakness? Envision God setting your dinner table. God knows how to fight your battle and make your enemy your footstool. Challenges will come my friend. We live in a fallen world and having a life free of problems is simply not a reality.  God warned us that the problem would form but told us to stay in peace because it will not prosper. Isaiah 54:17 promises “No weapon formed against you shall prosper”. This doesn’t mean you won’t get a problem. It means that if you stay in peace and trust God the problem will NOT prosper. THAT is God’s promise! No matter how bad it looks in the natural stand firmly on this promise. You are God’s child and He has a hedge of protection and favor around you. Just because the problem forms doesn’t mean it has to prosper. God can override it. He has the final say. Pray, believe and declare! Stay positive and look through your eyes of faith.

Whatever you’re facing my friend keep the right perspective. It’s not permanent. It’s temporary. The power coming against you isn’t greater than the power inside of you. You are armed and dangerous! You and God are the majority. Talk to that challenge and look down on it. God promises He will make your enemies your footstool. Instead of being a stumbling block it will be your stepping stone to something greater. You are a victor. You are God’s beloved child.

Speak it, believe it and receive it!
