5,467 Promises

Are you living the life God desires for you?  Or are you settling for less than His best?

In the Bible there are 5,467 promises from God. You may be living way below the level Jesus intended. There is so much better out there for you but you must know how to access it. If you are living at a low level in any area of your life you are not releasing your faith in that area.

According to Romans 12:3 God has given us all the same measure of faith. So faith is not the issue. You HAVE faith but do you know HOW to release it?  Christians release their faith for salvation but most don’t know how to release their faith for healing, provision and deliverance. They don’t know they can be healed from their broken past. If you don’t ask, you can’t believe and therefore you won’t get.

Faith must be based on God’s word. You can’t put faith in something that you don’t know is a promise from God. This is why it’s so important to study the word because it’s so full of what is yours... what has been bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus. But so many people approach the Bible like it’s an obligation, like we’re going get a star on our God calendar by reading a chapter every day. We need to devour that book, reminding ourselves of all that God has done for us.  If we don’t read the word then we don’t know ALL of the promises! We don’t have to settle for a low level life where nothing changes.

Faith says “Jesus provided it and I am His child. He loves me and I’m gonna trust Him for it and I’m not gonna give up until I see what He has promised me come to pass.” It doesn’t matter how much we think we know about faith. We need to be reminded and we need to be refreshed. We need fresh manna every single day. If not we get lazy and we become complacent.

Faith is a fight. We can’t live by how we feel. We must live by the word of God. If you wake up in the morning and ask yourself how you feel you’re gonna be 50/50 at best. You gotta get up in the morning and TELL yourself “today I’m going to be blessed, today I’m going to be favored, today I’m going to be a blessing, today I’m going to take new ground, today I’m going to encourage someone.”

Put your hope in God. Make discouragement bow its knee in the presence of God. Fear must bow to faith in the presence of God. In Joshua 1:8 God told Joshua that there was a promise He was leading him to but he was going to have to TALK himself into it. That is, meditate and keep the promise on your lips. (“Haga” is the Hebrew word for meditate. It means to mutter). It’s not enough to read the Bible you have to “rehearse” the Bible. Your life will follow the direction of your conversation. Your courage comes from your conversation with yourself. So does your fear and discouragement. If you’re going to have PEACE and fulfill God’s purpose for your life you’re going to have to TALK yourself into peace.

We all need a phrase to fight fear. There are only 2 fears... the fear of falling short (that you won’t BE enough) and the fear of running out (that you won’t HAVE enough). Any fear you have in your life falls into one of those categories. If you’re scared to lose a relationship it’s because you’re afraid of falling short in someone’s eyes or you’re afraid of falling out of love. The truth is this... you’re not going to live in peace and purpose automatically. A great phrase to fight fear is“Christ is in me. I am enough.” I may feel fear but I am not afraid. God didn’t say we wouldn’t feel fear. In fact He said we would have to face it. He didn’t say the fear wouldn’t come upon us. He said it shouldn’t define us.

“I’m saved and someday I’m going to Heaven”. This promise is the only one that many Christians believe and have released their faith for. That is not supposed to be the extent of our Christian experience. We’re the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. We’re anointed, we have power and authority over the devil. Out of the 5,467 promises of God, how many are you believing God for? One of God promises is His promise not to leave or forsake us. He lives in you through the Holy Spirit. How can you be alone if God is living on the inside of you? Our life needs to be focused on our relationship with God. We can literally talk to him anywhere, anytime, about anything and He cares! Your problems are not too big for God! Rather than reaching OUT to God you should be reaching IN to God as YOU are the home of God. You may live in a house by yourself but you are not alone. You may not be married but you are not alone. You have somebody that is with you all the time, a friend that is better than any friend that you could possibly have anywhere. We all think we’d like to have just one friend that really gets us, that really understands us. “And even though they know my weirdness they accept me the way I am.” Jesus is that friend. He gets you, He understands you and He will never leave or forsake you. Joshua 1:9 says “Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” He doesn’t live in the church. He lives in you. You go to the grocery store, he’s there with you. You drive in traffic he’s there with you. You go to school he’s there with you. This “Jesus is with me all the time” mentality is life changing. You are not alone and He is not just interested in the spiritual part of your life, He is just as interested in the secular part.

If you learn how to live with a “Jesus is with me” mentality going to the grocery store can be just as holy as going to church. It might not be as valuable as far as what you learn but the point is that if the only time we can find God is for an hour on Sunday then we’re in big trouble. He’s not off in the sky somewhere. He lives on the inside of you. He didn’t die so we could have a certain brand of religion. He died so we could have an intimate, close, personal relationship with God through Him. Proverbs 15:3 says. “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.” There is nowhere you go that God doesn’t see you. And there is nothing that you do that doesn’t see.  So if you’re doing good things and no one seems to notice it, no one seems to care. God notices. God cares. He knows everything you’ve done. He knows all your suffering. He keeps His eyes on the evil too. He knows who is mistreating you. He knows what people are not doing for you that they should be doing for you. God is a God of justice and He will deal with the evil and reward the good in His own time.

We operate in our relationship with God by faith. All of His blessings come to us by faith and we must grow in it, develop it and protect it. Satan on the other hand operates by fear and wants you to get into worry about everything. This is the year to release your faith like never before. God has a big destiny for you but you must release your faith for it. Stop listening to your situation and start talking to it. Get in the word and start SPEAKING His promises. God has given you a purpose and His desire for you is to live in peace and possess it. Christ is with you and you are enough!

God Bless You.

In Christ,
