Angels Watching Over Me

I've always been a big Amy Grant fan growing up. She was one of the only female contemporary Christian artist of the times or one that I was interested in listening to. Back when we listened to tapes in the car, the current Amy Grant tape was in my tape player and the music was probably blaring. One fall morning after visiting my college roommate at her home in the Columbia Gorge area on the Washington side, we stayed up late talking and by morning I needed to leave to make it to work by noon. My roommate lived on the Columbia Gorge in a remote town and there was no town between my town of Kennewick and her town that I remember, just the vast Columbia River on the right and no man's land on the left.

I got in my car to leave, put on the Amy Grant tape and headed towards work in Kennewick, Washington. As I began driving towards work my red Honda Accord, I vaguely remember being drowsy and having a hard time keeping my eyes open but thinking it would pass. Eventually, I fell asleep at the wheel at a point in the road where there was a cliff on the right, leading off into the river. In other words, if I would have driven off the road at any one point on the right, I probably wouldn't have been discovered because of the ravine and the vast, swift moving Columbia River that my car would have tumbled into after driving off the road.

At a split second, I was woken up, my hands on the steering wheel jerked left and shifted the car veering off the road on the right and guided it back on the road heading straight. At that very moment, I remember hearing that Amy Grant song playing at the exact time "Angels watching over me, every move I make. Angels watching over me..." I immediately pulled over to a spot where I could catch my breath and process what just happened. Beyond a shadow of doubt, I am confident that an angel, sent by God, saved my life. The Lord watches over me, every day of my life. He spares no effort to ensure my safety, protection and security as I rest in my good Father. Since that miraculous day, I've seen the hand of God work and angels working on my behalf to protect and minister to me. Not only did He use the gifting of Amy's voice and music, but He used it at the perfect time to tell me that He is watching over me and He sends his ministering angels to be with me and protect me. Amen!
